Local history display

Ongoing until Monday 25 October

*Find out about the history of South Shields Town Hall by visiting this dedicated display.

It showcases many of the information sources held in the library. Volunteers, helped by Local Studies staff, have pored over books, newspapers, council minutes, leaflets, brochures, images and maps to bring this fantastic display to life.

You can also get involved by:

- Contributing your own memories and images of South Shields Town Hall

- Visiting South Tyneside's Local Studies Library in the basement of South Shields Central Library

- Joining one of the local history groups in the borough

This display is supported by South Shields Local History Group for the Older People's Festival. The group holds meetings in the Local Studies Library every first Monday in the month, and has a lively programme of walks and talks, which are held every third Monday in the month.
