The youngest members of South Tyneside's libraries have been presented with certificates and prizes at a special awards ceremony.

Eighteen babies who were registered with Borough libraries within two weeks of their birth were invited to the ceremony at Cleadon Park Library in South Shields.

Four of the youngsters - Isobella Harrison, Joshua Burnett, Francesca Mills and Ruby Rose Shewan - had their very own library cards within 24 hours of arriving into the world!

Councillors Tracey Dixon and Jim Foreman were on hand to present the accolades, and the youngest members received a box full of books and a teddy bear courtesy of Bookstart.

The event was also attended by young members of South Shields Central Library and Cleadon Park Library's baby bounce groups. Sainsbury's provided refreshments on the day.
