Have Your Say on Licensing of Sex Establishments
Press release
People in South Tyneside can have their say on whether the Council should adopt new legislation to control the licensing of sex entertainment venues.
If adopted, lap dancing clubs and other premises providing adult entertainment would be reclassified as 'sexual entertainment venues'.
The Council would have the power to licence them, giving it greater control over how they are controlled and managed.
Local people would also be able to oppose a licence application if they have legitimate concerns that the venue would be inappropriate.
The consultation is now open and ends on August 31. There are a number of ways for people to have their say, with the issue set for discussion at meetings of the Borough's five Community Area Forums.
A questionnaire is also available on the Council's website, log on to: www.southtyneside.info/consultation
