Blue badge parking scheme
Blue Badges
The "blue badge" parking scheme provides a permit so that people who have mobility problems can park in reserved spaces near to shops, restaurants and places of interest. They can also park in short-term town centre spaces free of charge for 3 hours and use on-street disabled bays for up to 3 hours.
People who qualify for a permit usually have a "substantial and permanent" disability, but several rules apply. In some circumstances you may be eligible even if you're not a driver, since the permit can be used if you are a passenger.
The cost of the blue badge permit will be £10.
To get a blue badge permit, you need to be assessed by one of our qualified staff. An application can be made online See Directgov blue badge scheme or by contacting the Star Centre.
If you need to renew a blue badge permit this can be completed online or by contacting the Star Centre
If you have lost a blue badge permit please report it to the Sar Centre

Parking for people with disabilities
We can look at providing a residential disabled parking bay if:
- you have a blue badge registered to that address, and
- there is no off-street parking available, and
- you live at the address and regularly use the vehicle, and
- the vehicle is registered to that address, and
- there is space on the road for the bay nearby
We don't provide disabled bays within residential parking permit schemes, but blue badge holders usually get a scheme permit free of charge. For more details contact the Star Centre.
