Bupa Great North Run 2014

Every year thousands of spectators, supporters and well-wishers line the streets of South Tyneside to encourage the runners on the last leg of their Great North Run journey. This warm welcome combined with the spectacular coastal views provide the perfect backdrop to celebrate crossing the finish line.

This year's run, which will take place on Sunday 7 September, will be the first half marathon in the world to reach its one millionth finish!

To mark this extraordinary milestone a special Closing Ceremony will be held on the finish line, and a series of projects and exhibitions will be on display in South Tyneside from 30 August.
