Annual Review 2010-2011
The Customs House saw more than 250,000 visitors pass through its doors in just 12 months, helping establish it as the top entertainment venue in South Tyneside.
About 100,000 theatre goers, 29,000 movie buffs and 70,000 art lovers flocked to the centre at Mill Dam, South Shields, from April last year to March this year.
To celebrate this, bosses at the Customs House in South Shields have created a brochure to celebrate their impressive figures.

In addition, 50,000 people took part in educational and community events such as the Creative Partnerships scheme, in which 41 schools, 228 teachers and 60 artists and performers worked with 3,608 young people throughout the region in a range of art, drama and dance workshops.
The good news comes despite a tough year when The Customs House has had to cut staff numbers after suffering from a loss of about £800,000 in funding.

Through our dramatic offerings and gallery exhibitions we will continue to be life affirming and life enhancing and, through our education work, we will continue to be life changing." Rob Lawson, Chairman |
