Short breaks for adults
We know that caring for someone can be very hard work, and there are number of services that provide the opportunity for carers to have a short break from their caring duties.
This can be as simple as someone coming in to cover so that the carer can do something else for an hour or two, through to a residential service that can give a longer-term break for carers over one or more nights. This is called "respite" care.
The council has a respite facility at Bisley Drive, and we also provide a service called Adult Placement, where someone can stay with a family and so give some time out to their carers.
People who receive Direct Payments can use these to help with short breaks. Find out more at the Direct Payments page.
