How to buy your own care
We know you are usually best placed to understand your specific needs. We want you to take as much control over your care and support needs as you feel comfortable with. Self directed support aims to make your support optimised for you.
We assess your needs and calculate the approximate cost of meeting those needs. This gives us a figure called your Personal Budget.
We then make that money available to you so you can make your own choices about how to arrange support.
You use it in two ways:
- Direct Payments
We make a regular payment to you so you can decide what care services to buy with it (there are some restrictions on how you can spend the money). - Virtual budgets
We provide the support to a value linked to your assessment. This value is known as the virtual budget. It's the total value of the support we provide.
You can have all of your personal budget as a Direct Payment, or all of it as a Virtual Budget, or have a combination of both.
We are committed to supporting all of our residents to stay healthy and actively involved in community life for as long as possible.
