Chance For Children To Join Swim School

Press release

Children aged three and over have a great chance to learn to swim or to improve their skills at a series of Swim School's organised by South Tyneside Council's Sports Development Team.

The programme starts with Beginner's Ducklings sessions and runs up to stage five of the national swim plan. Youngsters can enjoy the half hour sessions, which cost £49.50 for a ten week course.

The programme will be held after school at Biddick Hall Junior School in Chesterton Road, South Shields. Qualified instructors conduct the sessions in accordance with the national swim plan.

The sessions begin on Monday 9th January and will run on Mondays from 2.30pm to 4pm and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 6pm. There will also be Saturday morning sessions from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Councillor Tracey Dixon, Lead member for Leisure and Community Safety, said "We want to encourage more school children to learn to swim. Apart from it being a great life skill it is also an enjoyable way to keep fit. I would encourage anyone who is interested to book quickly while places are still available."
