Barnardo's - North East
Barnardo's is committed to the principle of inclusion for disabled children and works with children from pre-school age to 16 plus. They support young people with special educational needs and also work with young disabled people who have been denied access to normal everyday living and experiences. Barnardo's has a significant number of services which provide short breaks for disabled children.

Down's Syndrome North East
Offers support and information for families who have someone with Down's Syndrome in their family. They hold regular coffee mornings and drop-ins throughout the North East. They also hold social events and family activities, and regular conferences on all aspects of Down's Syndrome.
Contact a Family North East
Contact a Family is the only UK wide charity providing advice, information and support to the parents/carers of all disabled children aged 0 to 19. The website has a section on medical conditions. Contact a Family North East also enables parents/carers to get in contact with other families, on a local and a national basis.

Living Made Easy for Children
For parents/carers of a disabled child looking for ideas, advice or information about daily living equipment, toys and mobility aids. The Disabled Living Foundation do not sell equipment but they can help you ﬁnd the people that do.

SHINE - Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Information Networking Equality:
This organisation supports parents before and around the birth of their baby, or
diagnosis of the condition. It also supports the child and family on educational
matters. Specialist information and help on health matters.

National Deaf Children's Society North East:
This society provides information and support to all families with deaf children.
The information relates to education, beneifts and a range of issues relating to childhood deafness. To signpost families and young deaf people to other support groups and organisations.

Useful Vision aims to help all abilities and ages of visually impaired children and their families in the North East get the most out of life.They organise imaginative, fun events and educational activities as well as offer information, support and a small grants scheme.

Tree Tops Occupational Therapy Service:
Tree tops is an Occupational Therapy service for children 0-16 years. They assess motor function, ﬁne motor and perception and sensory issues. Children who access the service have conditions of ADHD, DCD, Dyspraxia, Autism, handwriting difficulties and perceptual difficulties.
