Future of Day Opportunities in South Tyneside
This consultation has ended.
About the consultation - why we consulted
We want to give people greater choice and control over their day opportunities.
By 'Day opportunities' we mean the range of activities available to people who are eligible for social care support from the Council. These can take place either in a building or in the community e.g. work, volunteering, learning, leisure or care. This covers all opportunities for people whether they be in the day, evening or at the weekend.
This is different to what people mean when they talk about 'day services' which tends to refer to traditional building based services that are provided or commissioned by the local authority.
We have previously reviewed day services and day care (details can be found in Inclusion North Adult Care Transformation Day Services Review[pdf - 264kb] and Inclusion North Easy Read Adult Care Transformation Day Services Review[pdf - 265kb]), and we have listened to what people have told us. A fundamental shift is now needed to focus on a much broader range of day opportunities, with stronger links to mainstream and universal provision. We needed your views on our proposals around how we can achieve this.
Please see the day opportunities background document[pdf - 241kb] or the day opportunities background document easy read[pdf - 1Mb] for more information about this consultation. We also answered some frequently asked questions - day opportunities[pdf - 76kb]
