Action Stations For West Shields Forum

Press release

The work of a unique project which offers a range of help and advice services direct to a local community will be outlined to this week's meeting of the West Shields Community Area Forum.

West Harton Churches Action Station runs their Action Station project in the heart of West Harton and All Saints areas of South Shields.

The Council's West Shields Community Area Forum meets in the Whiteleas Community Centre, Whiteleas Way at 10.00am on THURSDAY 19TH FEBRUARY. Members of the public are invited to attend.

Hazel McCallion, Development Manager for West Harton Churches Action Station, will be giving a topical presentation to the Forum outlining their work and proposals for the future.

Action Station provides advice and help on benefits, debt, credit, education and training, as well as providing a listening post and drop in centre at its base in Boldon Lane, South Shields.

Councillor Jim Caine, Chairman of West Shields CAF, said: "Action Station is a tremendous asset for the local community. It provides a very important range of services that really help and support people in the local community in a way that is different to those provided by other more official agencies."

The meeting will also deal with a number of other local issues including parking and traffic problems, footpath closures, as well as receiving reports on community safety issues, area management initiatives, grants to local organisations and housing investment programmes.
