Direct debit

Stop worrying about going to pay for your council tax, and reminder letters if you don't pay on time, by paying by Direct Debit.

With Direct Debit, select one of the following dates and let your bank do the hard work;

1st, 11th, 15th, 21st, and 28th

Your Council Tax is payable in monthly instalments in accordance with your bill.

It's really simple to set up. Call us on 0191 424 4330 or complete and return our direct debit form[pdf - 199kb]

Please note there is no need to cancel your Direct Debit when your Council Tax charge has been paid in full. The Direct Debit will automatically resume when the new Financial Year starts.

Cash/cheque

You can pay by cash at any paypoint outlet.

You can pay by cheque made payable to South Tyneside Council, Central Admin Unit, South Shields Town Hall, NE33 2RL.

Debit card

You can use your debit card using our automated phone service on 0845 835 0127, or at any of the council's cashiers offices.

Problems paying your bill?

If you have difficulties maintaining your payments, please contact us as soon as possible. Getting in touch with us may stop further costs being added to your account.
