Changes to housing benefit
The Government is implementing the biggest change to the welfare system for more than 60 years. This will include changes to Housing Benefit:
- Housing Benefit Size Criteria (Bedroom Tax)
Cuts to the amount of housing benefit for people deemed to have a spare bedroom. - Household Benefit Cap
Households who receive a lot of benefits will see their benefit capped from April 2013. - Universal Credit
Housing benefit will be known as 'housing cost' under the new Universal Credit.

Discretionary Housing Payments are payments made in addition to Housing Benefit, if we consider that additional help with housing costs is needed.
