Special educational needs
Children with special educational needs (SEN) have learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for them to learn than most children of the same age.
These children may need extra or different help from that given to other children.
In the longer term, the council looks at how things might change to help maintain support for children with SEN. We look at developing practice and at green and white papers, which set out how the government sees things. We then produce a draft strategy, which we consult on with parents, staff and other people who are interested.
Support for children
Wherever possible we will try to support children to stay in their mainstream school.
Inclusion support
Children may be able to get extra support in addition to the help provided by a mainstream school.
