Training for carers


There are several opportunities for carers to access training. These include:

  • Training to support you in your caring role for example:
    • Moving and handling
    • First aid
  • Training to support you making a difference:
    • Training the trainers - To equip carers with the skills, knowledge and confidence to facilitate training/group-work sessions
    • Making presentations - To develop skills and confidence in making presentations
    • Being assertive - To develop skills and confidence in presenting yourself
    • Managing stress - To help people to recognise signs of stress in themselves and others and to identify ways of managing this
    • Recruitment and interviewing - To prepare people for being part of interview panels
    • Managing Anger
    • Communicating with People
    • Meetings and how they work
  • Training to help you back into work or other ventures:
    • Basic skills
    • Confidence
    • Skills update
  • Courses in certain hobbies/leisure activities

Practical support to attend training

If you want to access training but feel that your caring role might prevent this, speak to you care manager / care co-ordinator or a Carers Development Worker.
