Child protection procedures
Issued by the South Tyneside Safeguarding Children Board, the procedures include key guidance that agencies must follow to keep children safe in the borough. They explain what is expected of everybody when there is a concern about a child's safety, what they should do, who they should contact and how.
The procedures apply to all children up to the age of 18 years including unborn babies. They apply if a child is suffering, or likely to suffer, significant harm as a result of abuse or neglect.
The procedures were updated in May 2011 to reflect changes in local and national guidance documents and will ensure that local agencies are working to the most up to date advice.
