Parks case study

Beautiful parks are so valuable to South Tyneside. They provide something for everyone to enjoy and attract lots of visitors too.

It was a cold day but Claire loves to be in the park come rain or shine.

"I've been a park ranger for just over two years now. Some people ask how I put up with the cold in the winter months but I like it and I really appreciate a hot bath at the end of the day.

My real passion is working with the children, seeing them playing and exploring a bit more about the park, finding out what it has to offer and how they can get involved. The park is an amazing place to visit, there aren't many like this in the country!"

Claire Davison, Park Ranger

"I'm the chair person of the friends of North and South Marine Park group. I get involved in volunteering work such as gardening and health walks, about two to three times each week. We've even built four petanque terrains in North Marine Park. It makes me feel so proud to be involved with these lovely parks and I can't wait to see them full of visitors once the weather gets a bit warmer.

I would also love to see more people joining the group. Get in touch with the park rangers to find out more."
