Changes to the rules for private drains and sewers
On 1 October 2011, the Government transferred the ownership and maintenance of many private drains and sewers to Northumbrian Water. For more information see private drains and sewers.
Revised building regulations charges for 2012
The building regulations charges for 2012-2013 come into force on 1 April 2012. The revised charges will apply to all applications received and validated on or after that date.
Making an application
There are two ways of making an application for new works, depending on the type of building: Building Notice or a Full Plans application.
Apply for a scaffolding licence
If you wish to position a scaffold on a highway, you must apply to the council for permission.
Apply for a hoarding licence
If you wish to position a hoarding on a highway, you must apply to the council for permission.
