Our service standards
The Area Planning Group is responsible for all development that requires planning permission. We determine planning applications, provide advice on development proposals and deal with unauthorised development or changes of use.
We will:
- In most cases we will try to respond to your request for pre-application advice within 28 days. However, for major developments - 10 or more dwellings or more than 1000 square meters floor space - the process might take longer as these schemes normally need more research
- Register and acknowledge your application within 3 working days. We will give you the contact details of the case officer and a target date for a decision.
- Keep you up to date with the progress of your application if requested.
- Normally suggest amendments to overcome objections to the application.
- Make a decision about your application within 8 weeks (for a minor or householder applications) and 13 weeks if a major application.
- Tell you if the application you are interested in will be considered by Planning Committee and explain the procedures, including the opportunity to speak at the meeting.
- Issue decision notices within 2 working days.
- Acknowledge receipt of enforcement complaints within 5 working days and visit the site within 10 working days.
- Update you about the complaint within 15 working days.
