You will receive a notification letter in the next few months advising when Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services will be working in your area.

I've received a leaflet about the street lighting replacement work. What happens next?
This website will provide the most up-to-date information on the Street Lighting Service. Press releases will also be issued through the local media, and update presentations will take place at the Community Area Forums once a year.

What does the replacement work involve?
It will involve the installation of new columns, electricity supply cables and then the removal of the old columns.

Will the new columns be in the same position as the old columns?
Yes in some cases, but many of the new columns will be in different positions. This is because the current standards require a minimum light level and a consistency of illumination, which may not be achievable without changing the position and spacing of the lighting units.

How can I find out where the new columns will be located?
Plans will be available at the Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services office after you receive your notification letter, and also at some local centres, the details of which can be obtained from the customer care team.

If a new column is installed outside my house, will I be disturbed by light shining through my window?
Modern design and technology ensures that light from the lanterns is only aimed at where it is needed i.e. the public road and footpath.

Who can I speak to if I have a problem with a new column location?
