South Tyneside offers many industrial and office premises, catering for the needs of both start-up and existing companies.

The main industrial areas in the borough are:

  • Bede Industrial Estate
  • Simonside Industrial Estate
  • Simonside East Industrial Park
  • Boldon Business Park
  • Monkton Business Park

There are a number of industrial estates, located within and outside of the areas above, providing a range of industrial units from 100 to 100,000 sq ft.

The council has developed a range of workshops and factories throughout the borough amounting to over 300,000 sq ft.

TEDCO Business Centres

TEDCO logoTEDCO (Tyneside Economic Development Company) has two managed workspace facilities for start-up and small companies.

The centres, in South Shields centre and on the Viking Business Park in Jarrow, offer a range of office, light assembly and manufacturing units between 100 and 1,138 sq ft.

Both centres are only 5 minutes walk from the nearest metro station and offer an attractive reception area for tenant companies.

A further centre, managed by TEDCO opened its doors for business earlier this year.

Quadrus Centre

Quadrus CentreThe Quadrus Centre, a new £5 million hi-tech business centre at Boldon Business Park opened its doors in May 2005.

The centre offers prestigious managed office space for high-growth, small to medium sized service businesses in an excellent location overlooking the Testos roundabout on the A19.

The centre has 45 quality offices ranging in size from 13m2 to 117m2 each benefiting from high-speed broadband facilities and access around the clock.

The centre also has "hot desk" facilities available by the hour for workers needing instant, "ready-to-work-in" office space.

All tenants also have access to full conference facilities and a lakeside café "Zest at Quadrus".

The ECO Centre

ECO CentreThe Eco Centre is an innovative eco-friendly office development on the banks of the river Tyne in Hebburn.

With excellent views over the river, the spacious modern, high specification office suites at competitive rates, range in size from 500 sq ft to 1,200 sq ft.
