Employment Development Team – Services to employers
South Tyneside Council is committed to improving the economic opportunities of the borough, which will benefit local employers and residents alike.
Extensive services are currently available to meet the needs of businesses.
The Employment Development Team offer a service to employers which aims to signpost them to appropriate support, addressing their employment related query.
We are charged with providing local residents with assistance, helping them back into work by developing skills as well as removing barriers.
We provide access to financial grants, recruitment assistance, assistance on redundancies and demand led strategies.
We also also play a major role in the annual Jobsfair held by South Tyneside Council. The Jobsfair brings together some of the areas leading employers as well as smaller companies that make up the dynamics of the local economy.

Targeted Recruitment Training
The Employment Development Team manages a Targeted Recruitment and Training initiative that links in with the requirement of employers and training opportunities contracts that the council let via procurement and planning obligations. South Tyneside Manufacturing Forum

Jobcentre Plus offers a free recruitment service to organisations through their vacancy filling service. They can advertise your vacancies, match clients, provide local contacts and offer help and advice.
