About the Spirit of Enterprise
The Spirit of Enterprise is South Tyneside's strategy to ensure that every one of South Tyneside's 151,700 residents that has the talent, potential and drive to succeed in business will have the opportunity and necessary support to do so, regardless of their background or where they live.
The Spirit of Enterprise has evolved into the South Tyneside Means Business programme.
South Tyneside's successful bid for funding under the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative fought off competition from areas across the country and secured £16.2 million for the period 2006-2009.
The government has made a commitment to make this funding available for up to another 7 years if the South Tyneside Means Business programme genuinely transforms South Tyneside's economy.
South Tyneside Means Business is delivering the 10 Bid Ideas now and can provide a wide range of information, advice and support to local residents thinking about working for themselves or starting a business, local businesses that are looking to grow and businesses or mobile entrepreneurs that are considering locating in South Tyneside.
