E-tendering
E-tendering is tendering based, at least in part, on the use of Internet technology. The Council is a member of the North East Purchasing Organisation (NEPO) which has developed an electronic portal (nepoportal.org). This is a tool which allows NEPO members to communicate with suppliers and potential suppliers electronically including inviting and receiving tenders and quotations by e-mail.
The portal is an important tool for companies which allows them to access information electronically, view tender opportunities, register interest and submit tenders. The Council is increasingly using the portal to advertise forthcoming contracts, search for suppliers and invite and receive tenders.
