Procurement and South Tyneside Council
Sustainability
Sustainable development involves:
- Effective protection of the environment
- Prudent use of natural resources
- Social progress which recognises the needs of everyone
- Maintenance of high and stable levels of economic growth and employment.
Not only are these Council priorities, but the Government is increasingly requiring local authorities to take sustainability into account in their procurement activities. The Council will therefore be looking to build sustainability into its procurement practices and work with companies which can demonstrate progress in this field.
If your company would like further assistance there are a number of organisations and programmes which can help you. Listed below are some of the organisations able to assist with improving your environmental performance. This can also save you money through better resource management.
