The Procurement Team
The Strategic Procurement Team was established in 2003. We are based within the Chief Executive's Office and our aim is to seek value for money on all goods, works and services bought by the Council and to continuously improve the procurement process. We have a number of roles. These are set out in the Council’s Procurement Strategy and include:
Council's Procurement Strategy
- Tendering for commodities to keep the Council operational. We currently manage around 40 South Tyneside contracts
- We work with and are part of the North East Purchasing Organisation which also procures other contracts. There are currently around 80 NEPO contracts
- We provide procurement support and advice to other services within the Council
- Ensuring that the Council’s Corporate Priorities are taken forward through the procurement process.
