Waterloo Square Shopping Development
The new 40,000 sq ft Waterloo Square Shopping complex at Keppel Street in South Shields is now open for business.
The multi-million pound development has attracted a number of retail giants to South Shields town centre, enhancing the town's existing mix of shopping facilities.
Debenhams and Bhs have opened new stores in the exciting new development, which is just 2 minutes walk from South Shields metro station and other public transport links. NEXT and River Island are due to open at the end of the month.
"Desire by Debenhams" - the 2nd store of its kind in the country, opened on 2 November offering a unique mix of women's fashion, accessories, lingerie and cosmetics. Bhs opened on the same day with River Island and NEXT opening later in the month.
The Council's Employment Development Team has worked closely with its partners Job Centre Plus and TEN, to ensure the right people for the new jobs were found. Many of the vacancies, at the exciting new development were filled following the Council's Jobsfair at Temple Park Leisure Centre in July.
