Racist and hate crime incidents
In South Tyneside the council and police, in partnership with local groups, are working to convince all victims of racist incidents and hate crime that their case will be handled seriously and effectively.

What is a racist incident?
A racist incident is any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person.
What is hate crime?
Hate crime is any criminal offence committed against a person, or property, that is motivated by an offender's hatred of someone because of their race, colour, ethnic origin, nationality or national origins, religion, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation or disability.
