Changes to Housing Benefit for private tenants
From 7 April 2008, Local Housing Allowance (LHA) will replace Housing Benefit for those renting from private landlords and who are currently on a low income or in receipt of benefits.
What is Housing Benefit?
Housing Benefit helps people on low incomes pay their rent. Anyone who has to pay rent for his or her home can claim. However, you will not be entitled to Housing Benefit if you live with a member of your family and pay rent to that person.
