Maintenance and Safety Information
In order to ensure both the safety of the service user and loaned
equipment is of a high quality, some general basic safety information
is detailed below -

Walking Frames
Contact us if you have any concerns regarding worn ferrules
(rubber feet) or worn or damaged wheels, adjustment holes becoming
misshapen, weakened joints or buckling of the frame.

Commodes
Refrain from use and contact
us as soon as possible if you see any signs of:
- Dimpled/flaking
paint
- Rust or cracks on the frame
- Signs of rust or holes
where the legs are - welded to the frame
- Damage to the
plastic seat,
back rest or seat cover

Bathlifts
Refrain from use and contact
us as soon as possible if you see any signs of:
- Rust or cracks
on the frame
- Worn or damaged rubber suckers
- Damage to the seat
or flaps (if fitted)

Cushions/Mattresses
Care should be
taken not to puncture cushions/mattresses – keep sharp
objects away from this piece of equipment. |

Hoists and Slings
Contact us if you
have any concerns regarding wheels, various adjustment actions
or fraying of slings. All hoists have a service due sticker attached
to the arm of the hoist, please contact the Centre if this has
expired. |

Bed Cradles and Bed Back Rests
Contact us if you have any concerns regarding fraying or
tearing of fabric, weak joints or signs of rusting. |
 |
Wheelchairs
Check tyre pressures regularly.
Tyres can be inflated with a bicycle pump. The seat and back should
not be torn or split, wheels should rotate freely and you should
not be able to push or propel the chair with the brake on. If you

Important
On no account must a repair
to any item of equipment be undertaken by anyone other than authorised
personnel. The STAR Centre has qualified Maintance Technicians
that are able to repair or replace any pieces of equipment that
is not in a usable condition.
