Fostering and adoption

Adoption

Thinking of adoption?

FamilyEven though you may have decided that adoption is right for you, we need to ensure that you are able to provide the care a child, children or young person needs.

The adoption process is complex and it can take some time for you to be approved.

Some of your questions may be answered in our adoption FAQs but please contact us, we will be happy to talk you through the process.

What skills do you need to adopt?

You will have many life skills already and we will talk to you about your needs. We provide every adopter with training before their assessment period.

This is designed to provide you with the knowledge you need to gain a clearer picture of what is involved in adopting a child or children.

In many ways adopters are no different from any other parent. You will need tolerance, patience and flexibility to help your adopted child develop physically and socially.
