What is Happy at Home?
Churches Together in South Tyneside with the support of South Tyneside Council is curently working to develop the ‘Happy at Home’ project. This is a befriending service aiming to offer isolated and lonely people a visit in their own homes to provide social contact and lessen feelings of loneliness. This could be members of your church, neighbours, friends or members of the wider community who need support.
You might already be visiting someone, or several people, and they can be included on the scheme or you might be willing to start visiting a lonely person who lives near you.
If you have registered with the Happy at Home project we will ask you for information about the number of visits you have made and use this information to calculate a donation – if you are involved with a local church then Churches Together will arrange for a donation to be made to that church. If you are not involved with a church then Churches Together will discuss with you a local community project or scheme that you would like a donation to be made to in recognition for your work.
If this sounds like something you might be interested in getting involved in and you would like to find out more then please contact us on 0191 283 1309.
