Community Development
The community development work programme will be managed by a steering group, including representatives of STRIDE, Groundwork Trust South Tyneside, CVS, FOCAST and other relevant partners.
We aim to work with partners to develop a strategic approach to community development. We will need to “map” existing provision among all partners and co-ordinate these activities so we can maximise existing resources to support communities. For example, STRIDE and Groundworks will have staff who perform a community development role, and the PCT Mental Health Trust are proposing to appoint community development workers around specific issues.
We also want to increase the capacity for community development within the Borough to support the neighbourhood working, participatory and community appraisals work being done.
