Hebburn Town Centre
On 5 March 2008, the council selected a 'preferred developer' for the redevelopment of Hebburn Town Centre.
The 'preferred developer' is a consortium of Spenhill (the regeneration subsidiary of Tesco plc), Bellway Homes and Gentoo.
The consortium is proposing to transform Hebburn Town Centre and Newtown with an exciting mix of new housing, shop and office units, a Tesco supermarket, a community hub (including a library and Council Customer Service Centre) and a family restaurant and public house.
The new shop units are proposed along the full length of the western side of Station Road and are proposed in a range of sizes to accommodate a variety of retailers and other businesses.
Have your say
We are keen to know your thoughts and ideas on the proposed redevelopment and want to make sure we give you as much opportunity as possible to tell us what you think.
A consultation programme is already underway and will feature discussions at the Hebburn Community Area Forums, exhibitions and events, business forum meetings and meetings with local residents.
To keep you informed every step of the way, a new website has been launched. The website www.yourhebburn.co.uk contains up to date information on forthcoming consultation events, a feedback form and plans and images of the proposed development.
