Approved Venues For Civil Marriage
South Tyneside Council has taken the opportunity presented by
the Marriage Act 1994 to extend the choice of venues available
for weddings in Council premises throughout the Borough. These
are:
 South
Shields Town Hall and Civic Offices, Westoe Road
The South Shields Town Hall offers a choice of 4 rooms and is
available for marriage ceremonies on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank
Holidays.
The Reception Room provides the largest venue with seating for
145 guests.
The Ante Room to the Council Chambers can seat up to 50 guests.
Committee Room A and Committee Room C can seat 30 guests.
 Jarrow
Town Hall,
Grange Road
The Jarrow Town Hall offers a venue in the Council Chamber
with seating for up to 60 guests, and is available for marriage
ceremonies on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.

If couples wish to marry at any of the Approved Venues, additional
fees will be payable for the attendance of the Superintendent Registrar
and Registrar, and for the hire and use of the premises.
The four Approved Venues in South Tyneside provide a range of
accommodation for your wedding party and more opportunities to
make your wedding day special. The weddings at Approved Venues
follow a similar procedure to those in the Register Office, but
there is more scope for enhancements to your ceremony. (See our
