Current Contracts and Service Agreements

The Social Care and Health Directorate commissions a range of different services for different client groups.  Some of these services are provided by the in-house service (this is the service that is operated and managed by the Council itself) and some of these services are purchased from external social care providers.

The external service providers include both the voluntary/community sector and the private sector.

Where services are purchased from the voluntary/community sector the Council must purchase these services in accordance with:

• Code of Good Practice For Funding Third Sector Organisations
• Compact between South Tyneside Council and the Third Sector.

These documents set out the arrangements for how the Council deals with these organisations.

Within Social Care and Health, a standard Service Agreement is used for a majority of services.  This Service Agreement includes the:

• Terms and conditions
• Service specification
• Budget details
• Links to strategic priorities
• Work programme planning/monitoring schedule.
