These services cover a range of different client groups and these services may be provided directly by the Local Authority itself of by an external service provider. The different client groups include:
Commissioning covers a range of activities and includes: "...the process of specifying, securing and monitoring services to meet individuals’ needs. As such it covers what might be viewed as the purchasing process as well as the more strategic approach to shaping the market for care to meet future care needs." There are a range of different services that are commissioned and these include:
Provider MeetingsThe introduction and development of provider meetings will assist in the provision of quality social care services. As part of the whole commissioning process it is important that all parties to the process understand what is expected of each other and that a proper and robust commissioning / service planning tool is in place to facilitate this. It is imperative there is an effective communication flow in relation to strategic decisions around the commissioning of services for adults as well as information coming up in relation to quality of service delivery and service improvements from individual services or service areas. |
