Forum 50

Forum 50

Forum 50 (formerly known as the Older People’s Parliament) was launched in October 2005.

The aims of the Forum are:

  • to provide a voice for older people to enable them to play a full part in their community;
  • to promote social inclusion, health and well-being amongst older people;
  • to develop practical projects in partnership with other agencies which will utilise the skills, experience, knowledge and expertise of older people;
  • to encourage intergenerational work.

Membership

Membership of the Forum is open to anyone who is over the age of fifty and who lives in South Tyneside.  The group has approximately 45 members, of which ten form the Forum 50 Committee.  There are currently two working groups:

  • Social Care and Health
  • Crime and Safety

The working groups meet on alternate months.

Committee Meetings, for elected Committee members, are scheduled for the last Monday in the month, except where the last Monday is a Bank Holiday.
