South Tyneside Early Prevention Panels (STEPP)

Making a refarral

Essential referral criteria for STEPP are that several risk factors are present in a young person's life.

With support, these risk factors can be seriously reduced.

After a referral has been made, an allocated Keyworker makes contact with the young people and their families, to assess risks and needs, identify solutions and work out an action plan. This plan then goes to a multi-agency panel with representatives from a range of services. The panels meet every month to consider each case, agree a programme of support and review progress.
