Substance misuse
The Yos Substance Misuse Worker is part of the Matrix Young Peoples Service, but based in the YOS, and takes referrals from the YOS of young people who’s offending is linked to substance misuse.
Once a young person is referred, a comprehensive assessment is carried out, in order to identify their needs, and a care plan agreed.
Types of work that are carried out with the young people are, education, with the aid of various resources, reduction plans, harm minimisation and relapse prevention, and general support work.
The Matrix nurse also comes to see the young person and carries out a general health assessment, and offers advice on general health and other health issues such as immunisations, and sexual health.
A family support worker can also be accessed at the Matrix for any parents who feel they need advise information or support, about their child’s use.
