Learning exchange

Local Strategic Partnerships and Local Area Agreements learning exchange

Date: Thursday 2 October 2008

Venue: Hyatt Regency, Birmingham

For LSPs to be really effective they need to be strong, robust partnerships of equals, working strategically together.

LSPs deliver the objectives of the LAA and the Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS) in a clear and accountable way.

This event brings together all the beacons in the theme of 'Local Strategic Partnerships and Local Area Agreements':

  • South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council
  • Leeds City Council
  • London Borough of Croydon

The learning exchange will give delegates the opportunity to find out how the 'LSP and LAA' beacon authorities have:

  • Balanced the engagement of the private, public, voluntary and community sectors
  • Engaged and included the community in their LSP initiatives
  • Addressed and resolved equality and diversity issues in complex environments

This event will

  • Provide practical tips for service improvement
  • Feature interactive workshops on the successful approaches of the beacons
  • Provide details of future activities such as open days and other support activities organised by the beacons
  • Include opportunities to network and share experiences in the exhibition room
  • Be attended by high profile key note speakers and relevant government departments
  • Provide information on other improvement initiatives from the IDeA
