Anti-social behaviour

Joanne Lofthouse"We're working hard with a wide range of partners to address anti-social behaviour at all levels, including youth disorder.

"I know people are very concerned about young people and antisocial behaviour and that they want to see them involved in activities instead of hanging around the streets.

"We've listened to local residents and to young people and have started several new projects as a result.

"One of them is at Luke's Lane in Hebburn where a range of partners, including local people, police, South Tyneside Homes and a team of young people, organise
Youthoria discos at Clegwell Community Association.

"We get around 120 youngsters each time. The young people learn new skills such as running a tuck shop, local people are making fewer calls about anti-social behaviour to community wardens and police report fewer alcohol seizures. It’s a win-win situation."
