Introduction

The Council plays a critical role in responding to emergencies, providing plans and procedures with the Emergency Services and other organisations, to allow a response to any incident within the Borough.

Emergencies can occur without warning, South Tyneside Council has put in place plans and arrangements to reduce the impact and respond to emergencies.

An emergency could result in the following:

  • Loss of basic services: including water, power, gas and telephones
  • Damage to property
  • Evacuation from your home
  • Injury or death.
