Household Waste Permits
If you use a van, pick-up or trailer to drop-off your household waste at the Recycling Village, you will now need a permit to gain access the site.
Household Waste Permits have been introduced to make sure that business and trades people don’t use the Recycling Village for disposing of commercial and hazardous waste.
Disposing of commercial waste at the village is not only illegal, but also very dangerous and it costs the council and taxpayer money to dispose of the waste properly.
Do I need a permit?
You will need a permit to take your household waste to the Recycling Village if you use:
- A van
- A pick up
- A tow or trailer
If you're using a car without a trailer, including people carriers and 4x4s, then you don't need a permit- you can just turn up as normal.
Any vehicle with a gross weight in excess of 3.5 tonnes, or trailers longer than 3 metres, will not be permitted access to the site for health and safety reasons.
How to apply
Applying for a permit is easy. All you need to do is complete the online application form below, which will only take a few minutes. When we've authorised your application, a permit will be posted out to you.
A single permit is required per visit but you can request up to 3 permits at a time. Permits are valid for 28 days starting from the date you specify.
