BEST shop
The BEST shop at the Recycling Village is managed by Groundwork and is open to the public selling:
- Reconditioned washing machines, fridges, freezers and cookers
- Bicycles
- Soil conditioner
- Wood chip
- Water butt kits
- Heavy-duty reusable bags
- Plastic bottle and can crushers
There is also an extensive range of environmentally friendly cleaning products and other related environmental goods for sale.

Opening hours
The normal opening hours for the BEST Shop are:
- Monday to Saturday 10am-5pm
- Sunday 10am-4pm

The BEST group
The BEST group is made up of key local organisations and is committed to Bettering the Environment in South Tyneside.

White goods
The white goods are supplied by RENEW (North East), who work in partnership with South Tyneside Council to collect the goods through our bulky waste collection service and take them away to be reconditioned and tested at their factory in Gateshead.
The price of the white goods includes delivery and all with a 6 months guarantee.
Sports Recycler
Sport Recycler works in partnership with South Tyneside Council and Groundwork South Tyneside in reducing the abuse of landfill by recycling donated health and sports related equipment back into the community.
