Recycling Village, Tyne DockThe Recycling Village at Throckley Way on the Middlefields Industrial Estate has replaced the old Civic Amenity Site at Middlefields depot.

We now have more containers on site to collect a wider range of materials than ever before.

What can I take to the recycling village?

  • Used high grade timber
  • Low grade wood products (such as MDF, chipboard, laminates and hardboards)
  • Mixed or bulky waste
  • Waste mineral oil
  • Car batteries
  • Household batteries
  • Paper
  • Glass bottles
  • Cans
  • Electronic equipment (white goods such as cookers, washing machines and fridges)
  • Electronic equipment (Televisions and PC monitors)
  • Electronic equipment (Computers and peripheral equipment such as printers and scanners)
  • Electronic equipment (other items such as hi-fis DVD / video players, toasters, hair-dryers and microwaves)
  • Fluorescent tubes
  • Cartons
  • Carrier bags

  • Mixed plastics- plastic garden furniture, children's plastic toys, PVC pipes etc

Recycling logoYou can also dispose of your bulky or mixed waste at this site.

*Please note - the easiest way to carry loose waste is in plastic sacks. If you do not take your sacks home to re-use, please put them separately into the mixed/bulky skip. Please do not throw them into the other skips with your rubbish as this mixes different types of waste.

The best shop at the Recycling Village sells reconditioned washing machines, fridges, freezers, cookers and much more.

About the Recycling Village

The site has been designed and constructed with funding from the government.

The site's design and facilities aim to emphasise the need to recycle more of the waste that South Tynesiders bring down to the site in their cars.
