Building Notice Applications
The following documentation should be provided:
- Completed copy of the Building Notice Application form, including details of commencement, if known.
- Where the proposed work includes erection of a new building or extension to an existing building, a block plan to a scale of not less than 1:1250 showing the size and position of the building, or the building as extended and its relationship to adjoining boundaries, together with the provisions to be made for the drainage of the building or extension. Although not required as part of the initial application it may be necessary to have further detailed information, such as for a Full Plans Application (see items 2 to 4 below). This will generally be required for all types of controllable works except very simple alterations e.g. to above or below ground drainage or insertion of patio doors etc. This should be provided in advance of the works commencing on site.

Full Plans Applications
Documentation as follows should be provided in duplicate. Where the building use is designated under the Fire Precautions Act 1971 or is subject to the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997, an additional copy of plans showing fire precautions should be submitted.
- Full Plans Application Form and Block Plan as required for a Building Notice.
- Plans, sections and elevations as indicated on the diagram above. These should be fully dimensioned and annotated.
- Complete specification details for each component to be used in the construction.
- Details relating to the existing site conditions which should include the following:
- Gradients and changes in level of the site and adjacent land.
- Size, type and location of any trees or hedges within 30 metres of the proposed building.
- Location, depth, diameter and direction of flow of drains and sewers and location of any manholes and inspections chambers including the location of any wells and soak-aways.
