Funeral costs
Costs for provision of the same funeral service may vary considerably from one funeral director to another. You may wish to get more than one quote in order to compare costs. 'Disbursements' are fees paid to others, such as cemetery or crematorium costs (these will vary from one council to another), minister's fees, doctor's certificates (for cremation if applicable), newspaper notices and flowers. Ask the funeral director for a written quotation detailing all of these fees.
- Funeral costs and payments are normally recoverable from the deceased's estate
- Remember the cheapest service is not necessarily the best value
