Licensing Act 2003: Designated Premises Supervisor

Designated Premises Supervisor

Any premises selling alcohol to the public must have a Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS), who must be a Personal Licence holder, specified in the Premises Licence. This is so that there is a responsible person readily identifiable at the premises. It is expected therefore that the DPS will be the person who has been given responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the premises. The sale of alcohol must not take place when there is no DPS specified or where he or she does not hold a Personal Licence.
